Iteration 5: Bookmarks & Edit Dish
Major Developments
- Bookmarks ("Save for Later") system with personal notes
- Edit dish screen completing full CRUD cycle
- Discover screen now pulls real data from Supabase
- Product strategy pivot: personal value before social features
Technical Highlights
- added useDiscoverData hook for Rising Cooks and Featured Technique
- Edit dish handles photos in a smart way, as well as reusing the same submission form schema
Decisions
We made a decision to continue the movement towards personal growth instead of chasing social responses. We still have an emphasis on community, but the bookmarks are currently private only (won't be able to see how many people have saved a recipe)
We also started to transition to real data over mocks - or at least pulling from the database. I still need to set up a way to wipe/clear/reset the database to some standardized set of users/dishes/etc... but have not gotten to that point yet. Things may feel empty until I start messing around with various accounts and dishes.
Next
Iteration 6 is next, but might do another round of polishing to continue to get things where I want to in the app. There's a lot of "basic" looks since we're using React Native Paper right now, and I haven't implemented any customization or animations or anything. Still have quite a ways to go before this is where I want it to be.
We're starting to get close to where I'll consider it an MVP and start to look for alpha (pre-alpha?) testers who will inevitably just be my close friends and family (some of who already know about the project).
